I've experienced the same issue after the update and reverted it.
@DataDrake tip, uninstalling virtualbox-guest-common, also solved the issue so I applied the update and uninstalled it.

@DataDrake FYI after latest sync I get the following error with flex, version: 2.6.4, release: 13 (libfl.so.2) installed. Smartcards (Yubikey, Nitrokey) are not detected anymore and can't be used. I could not figure out how to fix this despite rolling back.
