So this happened as a different version of com.solus-project.lts was being loaded than the version in initrd-com.solus-project.lts. This can be closed.

I did find gpe13 with a high number, but running the command didnt ask me for a password and simply gave a bash error. Is this a common issue, as even Ubuntu Mate 16.04 and KDE Neon 5.10 also show the same behaviour?

Yes reopening SC will solve this, but it shouldnt require a restart for it to return to its correct state after installations.

Progress bar must have disappeared at the end of the process and the message 'please check back later...' is still being shown.

So i started up the VMWare player app from the brisk menu and had to install the necessary packages from software center (gcc, kernel-headers) to get it to begin configuring and i get to the kernel module updater dialog and click install.
Dont think that having an app icon should stop it appearing in the list, as i doubt MS Core Fonts will never have an icon. The default package box icon that appears when no app icon is available can be used when an app doesnt have a Moka icon. If this is still not acceptable, please provide a link in the footer to the help article mentioning that more 3rd party apps can be found there, so people can easily discover these other apps which the team has already made efforts to make it easy for users to install.
So which of the two places is more ideal to post to related to the software center?
From my duplicate bug "The entry wont be listed under the Installed tab unless you close Software Center and open it up again, which means the only way to find it right after installation is in the Search tab."
