I just purchased and installed ADOM from Steam. It did not launch initially. I troubleshot by launching from the command line and it was complaining about missing libncurses.so.5. I installed ncurses-32bit from the Software Center and was able to launch the game normally.

Thanks for all this hard work getting Variety updated, getting the new dependencies in place etc. Just as a note, Variety still failed to start for me after updating & installing 6.4 with an error stating "Namespace GExiv2 not available". I installed GExiv2 from Software Center and this resolved that error and allowed Variety to start.
