Alva looks nice! But it's based on Electron, sadly, and I think it'd be better to include an even more comprehensive tool where development has progressed a lot more, like Pencil: https://pencil.evolus.vn/
@DataDrake Why would a lack of development be an issue when there are other packages in the Solus repos that also haven't been updated in a long time because the main dev(s) has abandoned it?

@Girtablulu I can confirm that the package from your GDrive link fixes this issue! Thanks a lot! :-)
Feb 19 2019
Updated, but said component it's still missing from the packages.

@livingsilver94 You're right. I assumed that was the case, but turns out it's just that other distros have a metapackage called kdegames. Never mind then! :D
Cannot reproduce this on a clean install.
Why just KMahjongg though and not just the entire kdegames package? I would love to have the whole package instead of just one of the games from said package.
How is this coming along? It's not that I need 3.7, but a couple of months have passed now, so I was just curious to see if there was any update on this :)

But Adapta isn't dead, it's renamed 'Plata' and still very much actively developed: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/a46e6f/adapta_renamed_to_plata_and_now_hosted_on_gitlab/
Feb 9 2019
@DataDrake Because of that license thing? 'Cause that argument's invalid since that disputable bit is not included in the actual WPS for Linux license: https://github.com/getsolus/3rd-party/issues/9#issuecomment-459958519

@joebonrichie I would've opened a new task, but the title of this one's so general, I thought I just re-use this one ;-) Will open a new task next time. Thanks for the quick update! :)
ffmpeg-chromium is a few versions behind now. Would be nice to see it updated as codecs improve constantly :)

It would still be great to have this by default or at least have it packaged :) Ikey asked for benchmarks, which no one provided, but I'm willing to provide benchmarks if anyone can tell me what to do.
Dec 21 2018
So I said I couldn't reproduce this anymore on a clean install and that was the case for quite a while, but today this issue returned :-(
Running Linux 4.19.9 Not sure what causes it this time :/
Dec 11 2018
I get errors compiling software with this 0.49 update:
Nov 28 2018
Yup, that fixed it. Thanks for the quick response! :-)
Nov 21 2018
@serebit Thanks, I must've missed that part!
@ Solus team: Just wondering if the new Software Center is still being worked on? 'Cause I know Ikey was primarily developing it. No rush or anything, just wanted to know if it's still being worked on :)
Nov 16 2018
I got told it had something to do with it, but oh well. Strange :/
Today they finally admitted the issue and actually fixed the bug in the latest snapshot:
Nov 14 2018
@sunnyflunk No, mine is native 1920x1080. But I'm pretty sure most people have a 1920x1080 resolution screen or lower, so this isn't a problem for most people.
Nov 11 2018
@Girtablulu Ah, I see. Yeah, could be due to your multi-monitor setup. I don't have such a setup so I can't test that use case.
@Girtablulu Thanks for the feedback! Not sure what's wrong: it doesn't look blurry on my laptop (13.3" 1920x1080). It's a very high quality SVG logo, made by the Solus Team, so it should not be blurry even on bigger screens/higher resolutions. And the logo reaches the center long before my desktop is loaded (and this is a relatively fresh install on a 2018 laptop, so with good specs).

@clivejo If you want to use it right away: you can easily install it by unpacking the zip from my OP and moving the extracted folder to ~/.local/share/plasma/look-and-feel and selecting the Solus Splash Screen afterwards in System Settings -> Workspace Theme -> Splash Screen :-)
@kyrios123 But that's the point: it's currently set to None and I'm proposing to make the transition nicer by using the Solus-branded splash screen by default that I created or, if the Core/Plasma Team rejects it, at least include it as a default option.
@DataDrake As the KDE Splash Screen, which pops up when transitioning from SDDM to the desktop.
It would be nice if it could be included/set by default on the ISO, but I will definitely upload it to the KDE Store. Will wait for the Core Team to respond :)
Nov 3 2018
@clivejo Thanks. Pretty strange though that they never did something about it when it's known for two years. I mean: I can understand not fixing the bug because they were busy with other stuff, but the least they could do was (temporarily) remove or disable the plugin, as it's not very user-friendly to ship a broken plugin, esp. when two years have already passed. But oh well. Thanks again, guess I'll just have to wait for upstream to fix it someday...
Yes, they changed their ABI, but only to disable some things like streaming. The KDE integration only means that you can use the Share menu to share things to Twitter, which is still supported by Twitter.

@sunnyflunk Thanks, that seems to make it work! Although the dialog doesn't play well with dark themes, but it's better than no dialog at all :)
Oct 25 2018
Can't reproduce this anymore after yet another clean install.
Oct 23 2018
@sunnyflunk I told you before: the SMART status is OK. Here's the proof:
Can't reproduce this anymore on a clean install.
Oct 22 2018
@DataDrake I used the usual eopkg check command, or at least what I thought was usual:
@DataDrake Thanks. It reinstalled a whole bunch of packages, but this issue still remains :(
@DataDrake Thanks, but it didn't solve the issue :(
Oct 21 2018
@DataDrake Attitude? I only tried to explain how important it is for me to have it working again and I said that I think it's nice of you to help me by trying to rebuild wine. I think you misunderstood me.
That would be nice, 'cause I really, really need my one Wine app to work again (with the latest kernel and) w/o the X server locking up.
Triggered the bug again, but the Xorg log doesn't contain anything else but loaded modules and lists of detected hardware and stuff.
@DataDrake They both show that the server terminated successfully. But that's impossible, as it locked up, so I wouldn't call that successful.
I can confirm that this issue still exists.
Oct 16 2018
@DataDrake The last update was on Sep 17. I installed the game 6 days ago and it was working fine for a few days until the Xorg 1.20.x upgrade, so the game itself is not the issue here.
@Girtablulu Thanks. I just tried disabling LSI, but Euro Truck Simulator 2 still crashes.
I installed all of the available updates, but it still crashes :(
Oct 15 2018
Mainly Xorg and xorgproto and a bunch of rebuilds for them.
Oct 11 2018
Okay, cool, will wait for that to be pushed through my updates and report back :)
Intel i5-8250U Kaby Lake R
Thanks, but that did not solve it :(
Here's the output:
The rest of Plasma seems to be working fine, btw, but I do want to be able to at least change my cursor theme without System Settings crashing (currently, it crashes in both the Startup and Shutdown and Cursor Theme sections, but all other sections work fine).
Oct 10 2018
Just updated, but still the same :(
@sunnyflunk Yeah, I noticed that the updates to 5.14 are in. Will update ASAP and report back.
Oct 9 2018
Is there really no way to fully nuke KDE/Plasma and all of its settings, including the environment variables? 'Cause like I said: simply removing the config files doesn't actually reset KDE/Plasma.
Oct 6 2018
I reinstalled all of the desktop.kde packages but it still crashes :(
Oct 5 2018
I may have had it installed at one point, so maybe it was copied over from my backed up settings. But what should I do now? Should I clear the QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME? And if so, what should the file contain?
I dunno. But what should be the correct value for QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME then?
I don't use any external programs. Unless programs from the official Solus 3rd-party repo count? In that case, I do use WPS and Spotify.

Oct 3 2018
@sunnyflunk Thanks. I just added a new account and the same exact issue is present in the new account. Memory and hardware are fine.
Oct 1 2018
+1 for making Polo the default Solus file manager :)
But I don't have any money for that and besides: this laptop is only a few months old. But seriously: isn't there any way to fully nuke KDE's settings?
Sep 30 2018
Lemme guess: I'm the only one experiencing this?
