Nvm. I see it has been heldback. It might be worth removing Geary as a default app on gnome since version 3.32 is a real headache.

Sorry but that was a false positive... This issue is partly fixed, I can change the brightness but it always returns to 100% on reboot and the laptop goes on while closed randomly burning to battery quickly. The posted workaround still solves all of this.

This seems to be fixed now at Linux 4.18.11-93.current, I have no idea why: modinfo apple_bl still returns the same Nvidia driver while I still have an AMD card...

No idea if it's possible, but in the future it might be nice to have a fallback like detectportal.firefox.com.

@sendmepancakes I would love to but I think the package first has to be accepted for inclusion. :/

@JoshStrobl I'm discussing this because the reason for rejection is not clear to me.

It is not a 'development/preview' version though, I understand that the 'Beta' and 'Nightly' builds are not included because they serve the same purpose. However this is the developer edition with a different use case from the 'normal' Firefox.

Don't understand why not... looking through the package inclusion policy it checks all boxes adding a lot of value as archuray said.

I looked into the building step, most Electron apps package with for example https://github.com/electron-userland/electron-packager which Riot doesn't that's why. I don't want to install Node.js as a dependency as it might conflict with my Node.js version manager... Not sure though, either way I'll just stick with the website for now.

Hey just discovered this package because of this change. Before installing the SC states 'Node.js' needs to be installed however Node.js is bundled with Electron right? Don't think`nodejs` should be a listed dependency.

Thank you @stigarn that worked! Now I can stop unchecking linux-current from the updates.

Regarding the workaround, appending intel_iommu=off to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub and running update-grub does not solve the issue for me. Am I missing something or is that workaround only for certain GPUs?

Same for linux-current-4.15.15-63 on an AMD Radeon R9 M370X with an Intel i7-4870HQ processor.

@JoshStrobl this is not the same issue as T5008. As it is about a MacBook with a Nvidia GPU and in that case the brightness is adjustable. In this case it is not adjustable in any way and is caused by a Nvidia driver loading in on a AMD GPU.

Thank you @aleksvor! This looks like the solution Ubuntu uses. Maybe it would be worth having this app installed by default.

Could you expand on this @JoshStrobl? I often work with designs that use specific fonts which are sometimes licensed too. This seems like a common enough task to warrant an UI, other operating systems also provide very simple ways to install fonts. E.g. in Ubuntu double clicking on a font file will preview the font and give an option to install.

Installed Solus OS a few weeks ago, didn't make any big changes to settings or the desktop environment and have the same problem.
If more information is needed to solve this issue please tell!
