0.0.4 worked fine on a 64-bit Ubuntu with multiarch. But that's beside the point. 0.0.4 was outdated in September, never mind December. Almost all of our users use the development builds anyway, and those were capable of full 64-bit builds in October. That's why I said outdated information. Also, there is almost always a team dev on the chat to help people out with questions about it.
Have you actually tried building from source? openrct2.org is a community-made site, the downloads are done by a fan and not by the dev team. The code is maintained on Github: https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/
You're using outdated information. There has been a 64 bit version for about a year now, which reached parity and was made the default in October 2016.
