@DataDrake cheers!

This seems to have stopped with the latest kernel update: I haven't experienced any issue yet with 4.12.9-14 current.
EDIT: whatever, it just happened again :p

Same here: cheap notebook with Intel CPU (Celeron 1005M), having this issue since a fresh install of Solus 3, normal boot - no EFI - linux-current. I had no such problems with previous versions of Solus, and the only difference is that they were running on linux-lts. Don't know if the problem is kernel related though!

Geeez, my bad. I only checked on Software Center, while the answer was here.
Sorry man, you can close this!

@JoshStrobl Vivaldi had a Linux specific issue, that was fixed with a new release - the one currently in the Solus repos - a couple of days after you posted this. Did you also try testing with the new version?

I opened the same task a couple weeks ago (T1320) but I actually find out that I don't need Gksu to open apps as root. Maybe this could also work for you?

@testmonkey isn't Software Center in Solus an in-built app? It's no Ubuntu Software Center nor Gnome Software Center, and I always thought it wasn't a fork of them.

@DataDrake you're right man, it works now, thanks! ;)
I still don't know if Gksu might be useful / more safe: if the command su is enough to open applications as root, and there's no other scenario where Gksu would be preferable, I guess we can close this ;)

Case not-so-closed, unfortunately :P
Doesnt' work for me, I tried both the normal and the Mono version, stable as well as beta release. I'll throw here the error I get, although I'm not sure it's a Solus problem:
