So apparently I do not know how to build from the source... once cloned, what command actually installs it? I am a novice or worse and have only worked with ./config, make, make install type "building"

Fedora fixed it by not using system sqlite (until the situation changes), so doing the same seems like a good idea. I see ac_add_options --with-system-sqlite in files/config in https://dev.solus-project.com/source/thunderbird/.

For the time being I downloaded Thunderbird straight from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/, and now searching works fine again.

Has anyone found a band-aid or workaround for the time being? I did find a post for Thunderbird that looked like it may have been helpful (but wasn't), but maybe it can shed some light for the devs:

I knew about this one and saw that you closed it as "Wontfix." I thought that was maybe because the original requestor did not request the client specifically and also reopened the task. Respectfully, could you reopen it, or does it not matter?
