Except it does matter. I'm not going to have us arbitrary enabling functionality that isn't ready yet.
The current version was tested mainly with demo applications. A number of features that are being worked on have been deferred to the next development cycle.
Re. vkd3d, seeing as this is the initial release and it's mostly untested against real-world applications, maybe we should told off actually getting this added until it's more polished and the features they mention in their blog post are implemented and thus this is actually useful?

Does anybody even use vba-m in A.D 2018? I remember using it in 2003 but now that mgba exists and does everything better I fail to see any reason to maintain this package.

Vulkan support is still WIP and I doubt you could test it in a VM anyway. Bnet apparently still works according to a report at wine app db.

Well, you're referring to the excellent PSX emulator within mednafen which, in my opinion, is not usable without the sophisticated CRT shaders and the actual support for CRT monitors with custom modelines that RA provides. There's also a vulkan renderer capable of rendering games at high resolution with PGXP support that vanilla mednafen lacks so the average user will either want to use epsxe/pcsxr or mednafen core within RA due to those essential features.
@Shadow53 Correct. Retroarch enhances mednafen with additional features such as vulkan rendering, etc and it actually provides a GUI since mednafen itself is purely CLI.

Last I checked there were missing like 3 or 4 libs so I'm afraid it won't be that easy to get it running natively under solus :(
Did you build it yourself or is it a pre-compiled binary?

@JoshStrobl Just noticed that uninstalling it via SC doesn't actually remove anything. This thing leaves behind 2-3GB of data.

@ikey Please re-add wine-staging. Stable is ancient by now. It has lower compatbility and performance(can't even run DOOM). The entire debate between stable and staging is pointless as software of this nature can never be considered stable or finished. Besides, we spoke about gallium-nine implementation a few months ago and, in fact, there's already a pull request waiting to be merged into staging.

@ikey Personally, I'm fine with vanilla dev wine atm. However, when gallium-nine patches hit staging I'd love to have it in solus as I intend to bulld an AMD based rig later this year.

@Espionage724 Gallium Nine with CSMT is now a thing and it's faster than Wine+CSMT. In some scenarios it's even faster than Windows. So once gallium-nine patches are merged into wine-staging we'll be able to use it so I'm voting for staging. If not now then at least in the future.

You've completely omitted http://segaretro.org/Genesis_Plus_GX which already does everything but 32X. And it's probably the only actively maintained these days.
According to http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Kega_Fusion the only advantage that kega fusion has over what is currently offered is superior 32X emulation. On the other hand, it's closed source and limited to x86-32.
Unfortunately, I could only find pre-compiled builds from stable branch which is way too outdated to be worth using. PCSX2 has made tremendous progress recently. Well, here's hoping they'll have a new stable release soon.

Point taken. However, I, and I presume others as well, would be more than content with the ability to build pcsx2 from source. I've taken a glance at the dependencies and apparently only a few are missing or are not multilib enabled. Would you allow those into the repos?
But is there really need to reboot? It's not like the system won't function properly, right? I think a reboot button once the updates are applies would suffice.
Indeed. Although, this should be done in software center or budgie so you might want to report it to their respective github issue trackers.

Well, to each their own. Nonetheless, we have a similar situation with mgba and vba-m. The latter is in fact inferior on all levels but people requested it because it's more popular. It's up to DataDrake to handle it. In the meantime, give RA a try as there's hardly any set up necessary and even gamepads are automatically detected and mapped which is really nice.
Yeah I only did so because Ikey agreed to look into it.

@DataDrake I've to agree with you. There's no reason to pollute the repos with all possible emulators when only a handful of them is actually recommended. Just a reminder to the maintainers that PPSSPP is one of those emulators that are very actively developed and providing stable builds in the repo isn't desired as pretty much everybody wants to use nightlies. The "stable" tag doesn't mean much in such cases. It's kind of similar to WINE - nobody in their right mind would choose stable over dev or wine-staging. Would it be feasible to provide ppsspp builds compiled straight from the master?
