This is even more broken in 5.0.7-114 tested without intel_iommu=off and now it hangs on boot. I just see the mess in the picture but can't do anything but hard reset the box. Not even ctrl+alt+f1 takes me to cli.
4.0 is out

Still broken in 4.18

So I've tried to modify this line radeon.si_support=0 radeon.cik_support=0 amdgpu.si_support=1 amdgpu.cik_support=1 to radeon.si_support=1 radeon.cik_support=1 amdgpu.si_support=1 amdgpu.cik_support=1 and now my laptop boots with the radeon driver and my desktop with a radeon 290 boots with the amdgpu driver so that solves the issue.

I've installed 4.18 from unstable now on my laptop which has this problem and it still exists.

to confirm it's working
Just installing libarchive won't work. Just tested and still fails. Looks like it's needs to be enabled at build level.
In T6765#125372, @sunnyflunk wrote:libarchive can be added to the build without question. Can't speak for its RAR support though.
You may need to install the unrar package which probably shouldn't be added as a rundep.
I just drag the RAR file into VLC just like in Windows. VLC do have support to play compressed archives. I think you need both libarchive and this flag when you build it --enable-archive

This can't be built for Solus as this lacks stable dependencies. https://github.com/libbtc/libbtc/issues/112

Yes, running the following removed my distortion. I only rebooted once, but I will continue test and see if the fix holds true. Thank you.echo 'intel_iommu=of' | sudo tee /etc/kernel/cmdline sudo clr-boot-manager update

Can you test to add intel_iommu=off to your kernel parameters? That solved the problem for me.
