I hope this script can be absorbed in the desktop environment or the ibus package, so the user doesn't have to add the script manually.
Looks like Martin Wimpress likes it too: https://plus.google.com/+MartinWimpress/posts/bKCH2n44vGK and https://plus.google.com/+Ubuntu/posts/K97qcLZYpMM
Tagaini Jisho is an amazing programme and I think it should definitely be included. Could be moved to Awaiting Package Upgrades as it is not Qt5-ready. I am currently using gjitenkai which is much more limited but the only possible alternative as of now.

@ermo Thanks for your encouragement. I also hope that I will at some point move from requesting packages to actually building packages. I've actually looked at the packaging instructions in the help center today but found all of them too complicated to follow them in any meaningful way. They assume too much knowledge I currently do not have, so either I need to hang around in this community for another year or so to acquire that kind of knowledge or the instructions should assume as little knowledge on part of the user so that not only I could get into it but also my grandma. Until then I'll stick to package requests and bug reports. :D
I can confirm that. This is pretty important to have fixed before Solus 4. I have also had a similar issue - perhaps not related to this one - that once in a while my audio output indicates a dummy output without actually producing any sound. As the latter happens very infrequently, I have no option to track it and didn't raise a separate issue for it.

I have now everything installed yet this message still appears whenever I click on any item under Help in the menu.
That's all well and good, but that repo is clearly dead. Hasn't seen activity since May 16th. I'm not going to include a dead Linux fork as an option.
We already apply some hardening to our kernel and toolchain already (full RELRO, secure PLT, etc) - I don't see what else can come of this task so I'm closing it.
Our kernel also has hardening options (userptr, etc.) enabled out of the box.
Any ideas about this?
I suppose this should be accepted since T3694 is accepted?
With gsm in the repository, are there any more dependencies missing? Would be great to see Ring land before Solus 4 goes live.
Any news regarding this? My Canon MG 5150 was working some weeks ago but has stopped working since last week I think. Can exclude hardware failure as it is working in other operating systems.

@ikey Do you have any ideas if there is anything that can be done to install Solus on this machine?

Plasma Vault looks amazing and it would be great to have it for the Plasma Edition. It looks like if a user has both EncFs and CryFs installed, both options can be used via Plasma Vault. This is actually a great idea for a Budgie applet as well.
@sunnyflunk Would it be possible to run Plasma Vault on top of an encrypted home folder?

Thanks @tristan957
That sounds amazing! What if you were to offer a GUI option in the SC for those who update from an existing install to override their default branding settings? Alternatively, what command would I have to run if I wanted to update this manually?
Pinging @ikey whether this is under consideration for the new MATE polish. I'm not sure whether this is obsolete with the new theming and all.
@ikey Would this be something to consider for the new software center?
Are there any more dependencies missing for this one to be packaged? As far as I know, Cryptomator would be the easiest way to deal with encryption when using Nextcloud or any cloud for that matter and I hope that this package will land soon.
Yeah, I think I raised this issue here in conjunction with a request to have some more information on root certificate management added to the help center: https://github.com/solus-project/help-center-docs/issues/95
Not sure what kind of considerations are there on part of the triage team about what kind of certificates find their way into Solus.
Duplicate of T4904.
@der_eismann Yeah for OpenVPN. I am also not sure how trustworthy it is. Probably boils down to whether I'd trust the company or not. If what you say is true, they could have not signed it themselves and use a trusted root CA instead?

I've added a short description of what ChinaDNS is about. Are there any specific reasons as to why this was rejected? It looks just like the kind of package I need. On the other side, I know it's been in limbo since 2015.
I suppose before updating firmware there must be a way to find out what firmware it is that I have on my computer. Is such a probing function integrated with fwupd or would a tool like MEAnalyzer be necessary? See: https://github.com/platomav/MEAnalyzer
@GladOSkar The Mediathek View project is now being continued as a community project: https://github.com/mediathekview/MediathekView
Here are the tarballs from a few days ago: https://github.com/mediathekview/MediathekView/archive/13.0.4.tar.gz
Franz is now open source, so moving it from third party would make sense: https://github.com/meetfranz/franz/archive/v5.0.0-beta.14.tar.gz
Dec 5 2017
There is a new release: https://waf.io/semantik-1.0.1.tar.bz2
I think this should be fully ported to Qt5.

I've adjusted the title. I have disabled WiFi and only use ethernet and it drops almost every 15 minutes. I've also updated the firmware of my router to make sure there are no connectivity issues on my side.

I also wonder about Gnome Characters (https://github.com/GNOME/gnome-characters/releases) and Character Map/Gucharmap (https://github.com/GNOME/gucharmap/releases)...

Have opened two gedit windows with 2 files in each and not seeing any slowdown, how big are the files you have open? Are they a specific encoding? Are they saved on an external drive?
Syng has just left beta and 1.0.0 is out: https://github.com/sotch-pr35mac/syng/archive/v1.0.0.tar.gz

@Robotmike It looks like they are back and this is the reason I've finally requested this. Had an eye on this project for a long time.

I have the same issues on both LAN and WiFi connections. Connection drops in between and automatically reconnects. While this is not much of an issue when simply browsing the web, it is quite problematic when video calls get interrupted due to this.

@mate-user The show desktop button doesn't look very good there. Instead a keyboard shortcut Super + M would be better and keep the tray as clean as possible. I think the clock on the right is good.

@mr_turdoide Just saw this by chance. I am interested in Pushbullet and think this could be the better alternative as it is actively maintained. See: T3162.

I've raised the antlr4 issue upstream and perhaps there is a possibility to circumvent it: https://github.com/BelledonneCommunications/linphone-desktop/issues/96
Nov 15 2017
Can anyone confirm this or is this due to my low screen resolution?
Is this one good to go?
Is this possible or does the MATE desktop environment use an entirely different terminal application?
It looks like this only happens when I either open a second Gedit instance or click on a file in the file manager but not when using the plus tab symbol inside of Gedit.
Maybe this is fixed with the latest version of networkmanager-openconnect?

I've talked to them a while ago: https://github.com/dreamchess/dreamchess/issues/17
In the Software Center this will only appear as OpenVPN client and not actually as networkmanager-openvpn. Is there any possibility to specify this for end-users other than through the blue plugin-icon? See: https://i.imgur.com/oB8BUKy.png
I really like to have this package as the PuTTY client would allow me to perform SSH tunneling without having to use the terminal. Opened for re-evaluation.

I've noticed the same problems (when using a wired connection), but thought it may be related to my own internet provider. Not sure how to check this further.
Nov 11 2017
It doesn't appear to be forked software and doesn't contain binaries.
Nov 10 2017
Closing as I don't have a chance to test this at the moment. Will re-open if the issue persists.
Thanks for the link. Raised upstream issue here: https://github.com/adapta-project/adapta-gtk-theme/issues/550
I know this can be installed as an extension directly in Gajim but I think it has an added security benefit to be able to install it directly from the repository. I generally don't like to install stuff like through an application interface. In addition, there may soon be other instant messengers supporting OMEMO and in that case it is needed anyway. OMEMO looks like a great replacement for OTR.
Thanks, that'll be fantastic. I know you keep track of notes but I still think I'd vote for a website tag here on Phabricator. At least that way I can easily go back to the issues I've raised too and more people can tune in with their suggestions. How about a website issue tracker on GitHub instead?
@JoshStrobl Any specific commands I can run to track down the problem?
@sunnyflunk Would this stand the crash tests with the latest akonadi from today?
Thanks @sunnyflunk and @Justin This stuff already looks great. Maybe this task can already be closed?

Is this on the roadmap for Solus 4?
