This patch is based on the 2.0-45 release, which I should note is marked experimental. The original 2.0 release had abysmal linux support, not even handling case-sensitive filesystems.

Didn't actually realize this was still open. I'll take another look at this at some point, but for now xone and the built-in driver are doing the job just fine.

Per discussion a while back on IRC, I'll plan to go ahead and upgrade to the new Qt6 UI with the next patch I post. Staudey also mentioned that this patch wasn't using some system sound libs. I'll see if I can fix that too.

I don't think there's any need for this to be included. I was actually pretty surprised that xpad-noone wasn't automatically decompressed like xone; perhaps this is an improvement that could be made to the tooling. The current packaging is definitely a bit nicer.

Nobody reached out to me, but it's totally fine for this to go through IMO. I wasn't going to get around to it until a bit later tonight.

Please note that xpad-noone doesn't have any tags or releases: https://github.com/medusalix/xpad-noone. To work around that I'm using the most recent commit hash.
Jan 12 2023
Unfortunately we still have the problem that xpad-noone has no tags or releases. Is there a standard way to handle this?

Just wanted to follow up on this, as I'm still not sure what the best path forward is. Do we want to add xpad-noone to xone (despite the fact that xpad-noone is _way_ out of date with the upstream xpad driver), or do we want to wait for xpad-noone to be updated?
I'd be glad to take over maintainership for this. Thanks for your work thus far. o7
Tested yuzu. Everything looks good

Forgive me if I'm just not in the loop... but are people actually concerned about the performance of fetch tools? I confess I'm having a bit of a hard time seeing the value add.

Side note - usually package requests should be done individually, one package per request. I'm not any sort of mod or anything, just a user and occasional packager, but you should probably do it that way in the future
There are a variety of ways to get Proton GE in Solus already - Lutris and Heroic both provide easy methods to install and manage Proton versions which play nicely with Steam.

Considering that Nautilus is now using libadwaita, I think this can probably get marked complete.

Unfortunately, the maintainer of xone and xpad-noone hasn't been heard from in some time. I don't believe there was any plans to update xpad-noone.
Dec 2 2022
Looks like force feedback works for my controller (model 1718) connected via bluetooth, without xpadneo installed. I don't have a newer controller to test this with, so unfortunately I can't verify whether xpadneo is actually adding any functionality for us.
The main reason I opened this task is that I'm not really sure how best to proceed here. I could have the xone build script check out a particular commit of xpad-noone, and install that alongside xone. That's probably the best idea I've had so far. Seeking advice.
Dec 1 2022
Getting xone fixed for older gamepads is going to be a bit more of a headache than I initially thought. xpad-noone doesn't have any tags or releases, and the maintainer for it (and xone) has apparently disappeared. I'm going to open a new task for this so that we can keep our discussion organized.
Nov 30 2022
Tested using Dolphin Emulator. Not sure whether this is a good test, as I'm pretty sure my controller worked with force feedback prior to setting up xpadneo. Needs additional testing.

@ReillyBrogan the xpadneo folks are recommending we package xpad-noone as well, as it fixes some xone issues when people are using both older Xbox controllers and new Xbox One / Series S / Series X controllers. I'll put up a package request for that shortly, and once packaged I'll add it as a runtime dependency for xone.
I just talked to the folks on the xpadneo discord. We should be able to add this with no conflicts. I'll do some testing this afternoon.
I'll take a look at it. The xone and xpadneo guys actually work pretty closely together, but I think these two drivers may conflict in some areas. It would definitely be nice to have working rumble via wired & Bluetooth though.

Looks like I'm getting these too, since Nov 14. This is probably the relevant change: https://dev.getsol.us/R4226:8f1e28fe4361bd3f6bb05f8b95fdd96f031059d6

Note that you need an xbox wireless dongle to use this. I have the slim one shown on this page: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/accessories/adapters/wireless-adapter-windows. There is also an older, slightly chunkier one. I have not tested this software with the older model.

Just to update status here: I have a working package for this, and I've also submitted a tentative patch to subliminal to swap it over to this package.

Bump release number
Nov 10 2022
After some discussion on IRC, it looks like it will be a better bet to change all the revdeps of pysrt over to srt instead. Luckily, by "all the revdeps" I'm only referring to one package: subliminal. I've started working on a patch for that, and it doesn't seem too extensive. I'm not sure who the audience is to test it though - it's certainly not the sort of software that I have an immediate need for.
Nov 9 2022
It seems that manim has a dependency on [[ https://pypi.org/project/srt/ | srt ]], which by default provides a binary named srt. This conflicts with our current python-pysrt package, which provides a binary with the same filename. Both libraries accomplish similar functions - dealing with .srt files - but have distinct APIs.

I'd be glad to take another look at this. I find myself in a spot where I'm going to need to explain some complex math/electronics stuff to people who have never worked with electronics, and this is basically the ideal software for making the kind of animations I want.
Those fixes should be good now. I'll add the robin-map stuff to yuzu when I update it on Wednesday - since they also do nightly builds, I find that Wednesdays strike a good balance between testing time and recency.
Fixes to build recipe
Thanks for catching those issues. I'll have things fixed up in a few minutes.
