Yes i am sorry, i tested it a while later and forgot to mention, enabling this config fixes the issue.

Still an issue for me
Jan 11 2021
uname -r says 5.10.5-167.current and I'm using Budgie.
I managed to solve the issue by commenting out the following line from:

I'm really curious if you can figure this one out. Downloading and moving firmware files from linuxtv to /lib/firmware is fine for me. Maybe, providing firmware bundle packages each vendor (e.g. Technisat, Terratec,...), or a dvb-meta-package might be practicable in the future. Depends on whether those firmware files need to be updated, as asked in my SkyStar request. I'm not sure, how many other Solus users will run my dvb devices, though. All the online feedback just says "There's no dvb support in Solus." and that's it to them, apparently, sadly. I wouldn't want to create unnecessary packaging work for the Solus team that distracts from more urgent tasks. Again, thank you very much for your help!
Retrieving firmware files from www.linuxtv.org and "sudo cp" them into /lib/firmware is perfectly fine for me. In fact, I've succesfully been doing so in other distros. As far as I understand, they don't need to be updated, do they? Thank you very much for your help.
This should be tested against the latest 5.10.x kernel release at this point, as there has been countless updates to bluetooth since then.
The XXX0 chipsets have notoriously bad support on Linux, so I can't say I'm surprised. I agree that linux-lts might work better for you.
Looks like we probably need CONFIG_VIDEO_SAA7134_DVB enabled in the kernel config.
Like I said for the other tuner, I'll look into the kernel side of this, but I really don't want one-off packages for individual firmware files.
I'll look into the kernel side of this when I have a chance. I don't really want to redistribute the firmware of just a single DVB tuner in a dedicated package though, so we'll need a different solution there unless dropping it into place on your system is adequate.
It's been awhile since I've looked into CAKE, but I remember it being promising. It looks like this is probably just a systemd default that we should either be overriding to what we are actually configured for or enabling FQ_CODEL.
Let's follow up on this after the inclusion of sof-firmware
Can you please tell us which kernel (-current or -lts) and edition (Budgie, Gnome, MATE, Plasma) you are running? Thanks.

I am brand new to Solus. I have two printers that need to be added. The first is the Brother MFC-7860DW. The second is at work and I do not have the information here, so I will post that one later. If I am doing this wrong, please let me know. Thank you!

Is this still an issue with the latest kernel and alsa? We've updated alsa-lib, alsa-firmware, and linux-current since then.

Could you please include this driver to Solus ?I am little confused... till now the Solus's system printer settings automatically used the driver for printer HL-2250DN, which sometimes worked with just delays but sometimes not at all, like now ... with no obvious cause (to me at lease).
thanks in advance

It seems you forgot CONFIG_USB_GSPCA_OV519. No hurry though :)
Dec 16 2020
I added CONFIG_NF_TABLES_INET to the config. Not gonna have a 4th build of the kernel this week unless they push out a .2 so it'll wait until much more enablement needs to happen or a new release.
@JoshStrobl, NF_TABLES_INET was not enabled in R3571:4be9c7a70540

Hello! Installed the driver on 7057R, everything works, prints without problems. Thanks!!!

@xportox with 159 the kernel got a CVE fix backported, so most likely this is the issue for you
What make/model are your earphones?
How can I downgrade to 5.6.19-158 or revert those patches applied to current kernel?
After installing important updates yesterday, this bug is unfortunately still active:
Dec 5 2020
My bad, didn't pay attention to this..
If I understand correctly the patch is already in the kernel since 5.0
yes, it does work with another Solus installation at my job's laptop and used to work on mine :(
So have the earphones worked with Solus at some point?

I've enabled this as of 5.10-rc5 in an internal linux-next source repo. This will be promoted to linux-current when 5.10 becomes stable sometime in December, which will also be when the next ISO comes out (so you can expect OOTB support then).

@DataDrake It's likely that I don't understand this right, but it doesn't appear that this (https://discuss.getsol.us/d/4167-i-built-rocm-for-solus-i-need-someone-to-test-it) uses the amdgpu-pro driver. Is there any way it could be made to work? I have access to a modern (Navi) GPU to test with if you'd like me to give it a shot.

Is this still an issue on the latest Mesa?
We haven't hear back in over a month, so I'm going to assume this patch hasn't been tested. Without testing, I won't just add it to our kernels. If @stalebrim wants to go through the effort of testing it and upstreaming it,I have no problem using a kernel with those fixes or backporting it to one of our kernels.
I'd rather not change those settings for everyone since it is more likely to break working systems than just fix yours.
Awesome, thanks!
Probably no one requested it. I'll add it to my list.

tested the driver for the MFC-J430W. Install is okay, but did not work with error "Filter failed".
Also the package description is not correct, it says "Printer driver for Brother MFC-9125CN".
Oct 19 2020
I'd also ask to enable CONFIG_USB_GSPCA_OV534 / CONFIG_USB_GSPCA_OV534_9 for PS3 Eye.

Unfortunately, running as root gives nothing. But...
After installing brscan4 it just showed up and works as it should!
That's strange, but this workaround is ok for me.
@DooshPastesh, to my knowledge brscan3 should automatically recognize a compatible USB scanner and work without any configuration needed.
Driver for printer DCP-J125 is working perfectly. Unfortunately, brscan3 doesn't work as expected. Scanner is not recognisable by system. Any thoughts?
Thank you @QORTEC ! I will test DCP-j125 later today and give you feedback.

@slave2anubis, @DooshPastesh, @mbkamble, @tecosaur, @aurelien1402, @alegoje
I did another round of building outstanding driver requests.
As always; I cannot guarantee that they work since I don't have the hardware to test on...
Let me know if you are having any issues...
Oct 15 2020
I have already requested drivers for DCP-J125 but it was marked as duplicate of this post. Is it possible to create such drivers package for my printer?

Dacian here, can i request a ppd file for the Brother DCP-8070D?

I'm requesting support for Brother HL-2140 monochrome laser printer. It is a USB wired printer.
This is the product page URL : https://support.brother.com/g/b/faqtop.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hl2140_all

@mowglie, @ole108, @bhibb, @boggle247;
I quickly put together some eopkg packages for the printers you where requesting.
While I'm fairly sure that they will work based on my experience and similar drivers repos, I cannot guarantee that since I don't have the hardware to test on...
Let me know if they work for you...
If possible I would like two printers to be added to the Solus repos, HL-2270DW & HL-3170CDW.

Yeah, I don't know why Auxiliary works and the Built-In speakers don't work.
To be honest, at the moment, my Toshiba Chromebook 2 shows no more sound issues.
I can use builtin speakers without any issues.
This issue with cht98090 and byt-max98090 is present on Solus Budgie 4.1 and Solus GNOME 4.1. I'm running Solus Budgie right now on my Acer CB3-111 Chromebook.

@Pilleo that seems to be a benchmark for zram, not zswap
@DataDrake Does this look meaningful enough?

Hello! I'd like to request the printer driver for the Brother printer/scanner: HL-L2395DW.

There are actually an additional 2 more kernel modules,
nf_tables_arp
nf_tables_bridge
I have lucky fixed this issue and found it is definitely not device specific, as it happened on my integrated sound card too. I fixed the issue by setting the buffer values as described on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio/Troubleshooting#Laggy_sound
Aug 18 2020
After further testing it seems this is mostly happening with Foobar2000 using WSAPI output on Wine. Sadly this is the only way I know to output surround sound from foobar, so it's still a pretty significant issue personally. There is some stuttering outside that too.
Okay, I actually figured it out for myself. I needed to install the "cups-32bit" package because my printer is like 15yr old. Aside from that, my config copying strategy was sound. I will attach a tarball of the config files with a list of where they belong. I would love to share the files with you but some are copyright Brother 2006. The summary is to copy the PPD from the working system, copy the filter file, chmod +x the filter file, install "cups-32bit" and "psutils", and copy the "Brother" director that the working filter file refers to.
