Kernel panic in 5.14.7-198 in touchpad driver

Description

After upgrading to kernel 5.14.7-198, my laptop failed to boot: after entering my LUKS password, it just had a black screen. Selecting kernel 5.13.12-193 (the previous kernel) works.

I was able to see a panic by booting the new kernel without the options "quiet" and "splash", while also adding "nomodeset". Here is a picture::

This is on a Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen2. Possibly relevant dmesg output about the touchpad (from the 5.13 kernel):
