gnome-pie updated - please, bring it back to the repo
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

Hi,

My favorite shortcut tool was just recently updated to support newer Vala versions:
https://github.com/Schneegans/Gnome-Pie/releases/tag/v0.7.3

Schneegans released this 9 days ago
This does not contain any new feature but makes Gnome-Pie compatible with more recent versions of the Vala compiler and implements some minor fixes.

The package was in the repo, but was removed due project inactivity and incompatibilities with recent Vala releases.

Cheers,
PY

No. All of the issues with GNOME Pie that led to its removal are still there. The maintainer has more or less deprecated the project and a single release after 3 years of inactivity doesn't negate that. Doubly so when they have made it clear that you should be using their newer project:

At this point, I will only provide very basic support for Gnome-Pie. If you are on a GNOME Shell based distro, you may want to try my successor project, Fly-Pie.

While I realize this is limited to GNOME Shell as an extension, that doesn't change the fact that the original project is still ineligible for re-inclusion.
