No actual releases and legally dubious.

chdman is a tool made by the mame project i doubt it's illegal to use

they did make releases but it's only a deb package and because eopkg was created means theirs no way to properly convert the package to eopkg without going through a ton of documentation and trying to figure out how it all works

That isn't how you make a release. You tag a proper stable version, issue source tarballs, and let others build packages based on that.

We already ship chdman inside the mame package: https://dev.getsol.us/source/mame/browse/master/pspec_x86_64.xml$28

So IMHO providing a GUI is not more legally dubious than providing chdman itself.

i mean it's basically chdman 4 and 5 but it uses a zenity gui to make the process not need the terminal similar to how winetricks uses zenity to make wine stuff easier to do

Well regardless of that, there still is no actual release.

@dragonrude No, "latest" isn't a valid release. It is just as invalid as "master". Needs a proper version, semver preferable but not required.

@dragonrude anyway that script is so simple that you could download it yourself, put it somewhere in your $PATH and mark it as executable. You don't necessarily need a package to run it.
