From T9683 (and the stack upgrade blog post):
Deprecations:

  • epiphany: We have multiple alternative and objectively better web browsers in our repos. Epiphany has been held back for some time due to libhandy and I am more comfortable with deprecating it at this point. You can always get it from Flatpak.

OK.

not heard of Gnome 40, just did a required update and lost browsing, i went and googled it and got...

OMG ubuntu gnome 40 best features. @#7 Web.

so opinions vary then.

@si You can search the software center for a different browser. Firefox and Vivaldi are both present and are frankly superior browsers. Google Chrome can be found in the "Third Party" tab of the software center.

If you really need/want Epiphany for whatever reason you can run the following in a terminal to install the Flatpak:

sudo eopkg install flatpak
sudo flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
sudo flatpak install flathub org.gnome.Epiphany

thanks for the help.

i installed flatpak version, was worried it would be old, but its up-to date.

however a hard landing, since no settings/favs/logins/hist etc. and i can't import because, and im guessing, its not native.
