Need a source tarball. The tarballs on Sourceforge are pre-compiled.

In this case the download link refers to "srt-translator-linux_v6.2.tar.gz". Is this not a valid source tarball?

No. It's a pre-compiled binary release.

its not a tarball, but .java files.
is that something useable?

They post the source, sure. But they haven't tagged any revisions. So I really have nothing to go off of for what is considered one version or the other. We can re-evaluate this in the future if it changes, but at this point: no source tarball and no tagged releases means it's not eligible for inclusion.
