Problem with HPLIP plugin
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Hello,

The latest HPLIP (HP printers Linux package) seems not to be working. It starts and requires the installation of a plugin. When it attempts to get the plugin, this error appears:

hplip-3.20.6-plugin.run file does not match its checksum. File may have been corrupted or altered

The plugin is not recognized when downloaded and chosen manually, either.

This problem and its solution are well described under the following link. But I wasn't able to install HPLIP in terminal - because Solus is not among the distros supported for automatic installation. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-Archive-Read-Only/laserjet-p1109w-plugin-gives-a-checksum-error/td-p/5767593

Could someone help?

Event Timeline

@thumos333 I experienced this problem as well, and not the symptoms described in T9069. I'd agree with @serebit that these are two separate issues.
This is what I did to get the plugin installed. I've got an HP Color LaserJet Pro M478f-9f

I kept the installation of hplip from the Solus repositories.

I searched for the file the plugin was trying to install on the HP website: https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/plugins
After saving the file to disk, I ran hp-plugin from command line, selected the file, and it installed correctly.

I am now able to print & scan with my HP.

@TClark77 thank you for the answer. I think I tried this too and the plugin could not be installed. I am not in a hurry, so will wait for an update. @kyrios123 please reopen this task.

No need, @thumos333. A patch is landing that fixes the issue.
