Description

Hello,

Rise of the Tomb Raider crashes immediately on start with a segfault.

Already contacted Feral Interactive and sent them the crash dump.
But they did not find any obvious reasons so just told me to try the supported Ubuntu distribution.

But I won't go away from Solus because of one game.
Maybe we can get it fixed.

Have you tried different options in "Linux Steam Integration", e.g. disable "Use native runtime"?

Since you titled this with the driver version, did it work with earlier versions?
There will also be a driver update in tomorrow's sync (450.57), so if LSI options don't change anything, maybe that will.

Changing the settings in the Linux Steam Integration did not help.
Problem still occurs with the 450.57 drivers.
I don't know if older drivers do not have this issue.

Is this the only Steam game that causes problems?
Has this game worked before for you?
Could you try launching whole Steam from the command line and launch the game from there?

I do not have many steam games that run on Linux.
But Black Mesa runs without problems.
I just recently bought Rise of the Tomb Raider. It never started on Solus.

I did run steam from command line.

I don't have any other idea, but do you have 32bit driver installed? Depending on your driver version this is nvidia-glx-driver-32bit or nvidia-beta-driver-32bit

nvidia-glx-driver-32bit is installed.

Thanks, but unfortunately none of it works.

I am trying to run ProcMon-for-Linux to have a better look at the cause of the crash.

But it does not yet work on Solus:

I was getting the SegFault 11, after some testing - i found Feral have Solus as an unsupported OS - you can launch the game via terminal and it will load.

I was able to load Shadow of the Tomb Raider by opening terminal - going to the install location and using the command below - replace ./gamexecutable with the one for the game you want to load.

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/.steam/bin32/ ~/.steam/bin32/steam-runtime/run.sh ./gameexecutable

Even just pointing Lutris to the sh file to run the game works.

Does not work here.

@ckorn Try running the script RiseOfTheTombRaider.sh located one folder above (not inside bin). It worked for me that way.
