Could you please repackage the Brother MFC-5460CN legacy driver (GPL) ?

I'm trying to convince my grandfather of Solus - unfortunately his printer is not natively supported due to its age.
Because the datasheet says that the printer supports Linux, I thought that is also the case with Solus.
However, this is only true for RedHat and Debian distributions,
as additional drivers are required which are only available as RPM/DEB packages.

The drivers are a CUPSwrapper and a LPR driver, and are open source drivers with GPL license.
They are available for download in form of a tarball from the Brother website.

I would be very pleased if you could give me some feedback regarding the feasibility.
