yeah so for one thing, those are the old repositories, it's under a new github organization currently, but as for explaining why it's still on github, I'll leave that to the administrating team to give their reasons.

GitHub is still the best code hosting platform AFAIC. Nothing is implying that GitHub can't be trusted because it is owned by Microsoft. I fear that this issue just might turn into a philosophical debate over companies...

I'm implying that. Banning entire countries of users from using it is something. Deleting repositories that threaten the monopoly of microsoft, since day #1 of the github takeover is something. https://boingboing.net/2019/12/12/they-literally-own-you.html is something. Practically every day Microsoft attacks the free software world in a new way.

But whatever. This is a showstopper for me. Good luck with your throwing your lot with microsoft.

This discussion is over.

Politics aside, Solus will be continuing to use Github for any projects that are distro-agnostic. We believe it is still the best platform for those projects. Should that change, we will consider other options. We had already planned to move most of the Solus-specific projects to our Phabricator instance. But that's just to provide a better collaboration environment for Solus, not because of anything going on with Github.
