This would be the 4th time... maybe people should just let it die?

  4. Now this one...

Building on that, this one isn't forked by arc-design at all, which have made changes and updates against Budgie. It has no releases since the originals in 2017. Not sure where you got the impression it is maintained properly. For now we'll keep it on the known working-ish version.

If it's not going to be updated it may as well be deprecated then.

Update:

  • There are now two releases in the new repository
  • Arch, Gentoo, openSUSE, NixOS and Debian seem to have switched to this repository
  • There seem to have been at least some Budgie-related improvements, though I'm not sure if all the arc-design changes in this area have been merged.
