I'm accepting this only with the clause that tools such as ping from iputils are appropriately patched (not just moved) to ensure it does not conflict with ping from our inetutils, since iputils did not change their binary name.

@JoshStrobl What if we just replaced inetutils with iputils?

According to Stack Overflow:

iputils’s ping supports quite a few more features than inetutils’ ping, e.g. IPv6 (which inetutils implements in a separate binary, ping6), broadcast pings, quality of service bits... The linked manpages provide details.
