7zip is a very common file archiving format. In KDE at least, without p7zip Ark errors and is unable to open 7zip archives, which is not so user-friendly. I believe other desktop environments work similarly.

At best this is a runtime dependency issue for Ark. 7z is not really that commonly used on the Linux side of things, despite what you think. And it's easy enough to install if it is needed.
So should p7zip be added as a runtime dependency for Ark? People migrating from Windows expect to be able to open 7zip files and a lot of people use 7zip for work (in fact, I've had to open many, many 7zip archives for stuff over the years).
Maybe Ark should be patched to install p7zip when it detects a p7zip archive... open a popup and say "P7ZIP is required to open this archive. Would you like to install it?"
That's not what I meant. This task is a request to install it by default. That's different than asking for Ark to have it as a runtime-dependency. I'm giving you the hint to make a different task >.<
