Add syncthing-inotify
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

The syncthing-inotify package uses the system to notify on file and directory changes rather than scanning the whole directory every couple of minutes. Makes a good compliment to the syncthing package.

Homepage - https://github.com/syncthing/syncthing-inotify/releases/tag/v0.8.3
Is it Open Source - yes
Link to source tarball/zip file - https://github.com/syncthing/syncthing-inotify/archive/v0.8.3.tar.gz (GitHub auto generated tarball. All releases look to be compiled binaries)

(Adding JoshStrobl since he's been working on the other syncthing stuff)

Syncthing-GTK also includes syncthing-inotify as far as I know?

No, not being added in. Syncthing-GTK has a tray icon support, like @WonderingDane said.

Added dup from @taaem.

Note:

Filesystem watching and instant synchronization using inotify

This is done with pyinotify. If you want that functionality, worth filing a separate request for pyinotify. Technically the syncthing-gtk client is delivering on this particular task and the inotify stuff is optional.

@JoshStrobl actually as far as i understand if someone wants to use the web version and inotify he has to use this otherwise the way would be pyinotify

@JoshStrobl, @taaem is basically right. To use Syncthing without having Syncthing-Gtk running (whether the web interface is preferred, don't want a tray icon, whatever) and have the inotify support, this package is needed. I would personally prefer to have the option of having inotify support without also installing the gtk wrapper, as I usually end up using the web interface.
