Problem with Syncthing
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hello everyone!
I have this problem when creating a folder in Syncthing. Any ideas how to solve?

Event Timeline

It is failing for exactly the reason it says. It is trying to create /data which is directly in / and only root has permission to do so. You need to specify a destination for the data folder that you have permissions to write to as yourself.

Thanks! And how could I do that?

I've never used this software so I'm not sure that's exactly the solution to your problem but I think that's how you do it:

You need to change "/Data" in Folder Path to something else, let's say for example "~/Data" ("~" representing your home directory)

This is the Solus bug tracker. Unless there is an issue with the syncthing package provided in the repository, this is not the right place for requesting support on how to use an application.

Syncthing official forums are available here, this page also links to the official syncthing documentation and an IRC channel on which you can get help & support.
Alternately, Solus forums are a great place for sharing tips and asking help of the Solus community.

You're right! I was trying to sync the / folder which is root. Thanks a lot. I came from Windows so i didn't know this little detail.
