ibus-libzhuyin doesn't work in an up-to-date Solus 4 Budgie. (It doesn't appear in the Keyboard Layout applet.)
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

I can install ibus-libzhuyin using sudo eopkg install ibus-libzhuyin, but, even after enabling it as an Input Source in the Region & Language window via Chinese (Taiwan) > New Zhuyin and then rebooting, it doesn't appear to work in Solus 4 Budgie; there's no option to select it in the Keyboard Layout applet.

(On the other hand, I can get the Spanish (United States) > Latin American Input Source to work without issue. Also, ibus-libzhuyin works in Ubuntu 19.10, so I'm guessing that this is a bug in the Budgie desktop.)

Event Timeline

I experience the same issue with ibus-chewing, which is listed in the documentation. Chinese input appears to be impossible in Solus 4 Budgie.

Unlike ibus-libzhuyin, ibus-chewing is explicitly listed in the Solus documentation in the table at the bottom of https://getsol.us/articles/configuration/configuring-keyboard-layout/en/.

I'm guessing that this bug is the same as https://github.com/solus-project/budgie-desktop/issues/1785 and therefore invalid. I didn't see the notice at https://dev.getsol.us/ about the separate bug tracker for Budgie.

Budgie issues don't go here, as stated in the welcome section of our dev tracker...
