Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Name of the software: Numba
Project homepage: https://numba.pydata.org/
Why we should include this into the repository, i.e. what does it do that the alternatives do not?
Numba translates Python functions to optimized machine code at runtime using the industry-standard LLVM compiler library. Numba-compiled numerical algorithms in Python can approach the speeds of C or FORTRAN.
Is it open source: Yes
Tarball: https://github.com/numba/numba/archive/0.45.1.tar.gz

Why are you removing my comment? Does it make a difference if you install Numba using pip/conda vs. through the Software Center?

@MariusVB Yes, installing via pip will break python packages installed from the repo, including potentially the package manager. This has been packaged and thus the safe method should be used.

Thanks for explaining. I've only used the conda packagage manager and have never encountered any issues.
