Why should this be included in the repository? It's used for flashing Atmel microcontrollers over usb, a must development tool when you work with Atmel microcontrollers such as Arduino.
Is it Open Source (yes/no) - yes
Who and how many users do you anticipate will use this software? - at least me (i can package it and maintain it myself)

The last release is over 4 years old.. seems a bit dead to me.

Yeah, seems that way, but there is really no alternative to this kind of software, and it's de-facto standard.

Only accepting this because literally no other application exists which can do DFU updates for Atmel chips on Linux. If it becomes a maintenance burden, we'll figure something out.
