Lagging window movement with nvidia drivers
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

A bug we inherit from mutter, that makes window dragging lag noticeably behind the mouse.
Only experienced it with nvidia, although given that's my main workhorse.

Workaround:
dconf-editor disable the auto tiling on drag feature.
After that the performance improves a lot.

Not sure there's a fix tho unless comes from upstream, but I thought I'd leave it documented.
Unless someone has an idea for a real fix.

Event Timeline

Hmm, I use NVIDIA primarily, but my platform is Optimus. I haven't noticed the lagging window movement, but I'm not certain if that's because of Optimus just behaving differently or what.

I'm also using a multi-head setup, may be related too.

Since this is a mutter bug, nothing we can do until we replace it in budgie.

I don't see how "we will use something else" makes the task invalid. This should remain open until either it is fixed with mutter, or with something else.

As it is, the problem still stands.
