Suspend (ACPI S3) doesn't work at all on Razer laptops
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Apparently idle (ACPI S1) works fine. S1 is entered by locking the screen. S3 is entered by closing the lid. When these laptops resume from S3, the screen drops back to low resolution, which already looks suspicious. Then when the user enters the password to get back to the desktop, everything looks just fine for a minute or so. Then the machine suddenly goes back into S3. This cycle continues forever until the machine is shut down. From what I've seen on multiple machines, I suspect this may have something to do with the Intel video drivers getting corrupted in memory or failing to fully restore the video state (PCIe configuration space, IO space, or MMIO space being incorrectly restored). That might be one reason for the forever loop: the OS is never informed that the system resumed properly, so it tries to do the right thing by going back to sleep. I can't seem to figure out which Solus update introduced this behavior, so for all I know, this particular laptop always had this problem.

This would fall under the domain of Xorg then, not us.

so for all I know, this particular laptop always had this problem.

Should realistically be filed upstream with either Xorg or the kernel.
