soundconverter package; AAC quality is the same between High - Very High - Insanely High
Closed, LockedPublic

Description

FFmpeg is automatically installed from the repository which has non-free codecs (--enable-libfdk-aac).
gst-inspect-1.0 output on the terminal shows it detects fdkaac.

I tried to convert .flac to .m4a with GNOME Sound Converter.
My .flac files are fine (proper lossless files).

There is no difference quality between High - Very High - Insanely High. The files are checked with Spek (spectrum analyzer) from the repository. There is cut-off frequency around 17KHz

Expectation: for Insanely High setting, the audio spectrum should be over 20KHz/no cut-off

Event Timeline

Doesn't seem like a Solus issue. Have you tried to open an issue on GNOME Sound Converter project page ?

Oh, my mistake.
I think the most related bug report is this one https://bugs.launchpad.net/soundconverter/+bug/1296406 it's posted almost 5 years ago.

Yup, look the same issue for me. Can you close your issue as it's not related to Solus ? You should also raise a new issue on project's dev tracker.
