Some computers have light sensors and support for screen rotation based on a sensor. iio-sensor-proxy is a service that detects the status of such sensors, and can relay the information to GNOME for seamless handling (automatic brightness control and proper rotation of the screen and input when you rotate the device).

As far as I know, iio-sensor-proxy only "just works" with GNOME though, but perhaps the settings daemon being used in Solus will also allow it to also work?
