redshift inoperable
Closed, ResolvedPublic

**I cut and paste this post from solus forums. without the ability to preview I can only hope it's all here after hitting 'create new task.*

Please help, it's among my favourite apps (yes, nightlight is not the same!).
As for my end:
this problem is two days old
i've done all updates faithfully
I've NOT messed about in any settings for weeks
the app's status has never changed since install over a year ago: enabled and autostart

Here is the dialogue box whenever I launch redshift (it shows dialogue box then aborts). Even though it strangely appears in taskbar intermittently, it now has to be manually launched now. then, as I said a script and an abort.

geoclue was updated when in reality it should've been held back, their demo agent is frankly pretty broken.

I intend on updating it to the .13 release (not sure why it wasn't at least updated to that instead of .12) and if that does not resolve the issue, I'll be rolling the update back.

I'm going to be closing this issue. It is one I was already made aware of on Reddit and is one which I'll resolve one I'm back at my computer.

Just an update on this:

Until I've determined that the current 2.5 series is stable (at the moment it appears to be development releases or is at least in an active, in-flux state), I'm going to be reverting geoclue. The current problems have arisen post .8 and .10 and still appear to not be resolved. Their demo agent was and still is fairly broken, which they admitted in their own blog post, which is why I held it back in the first place (as mentioned in my previous comment). With 2.5, they're removing authorization from Geoclue entirely and shifting it to geolocation portal for flatpak, system apps with no authorization required, so this won't be an issue with 2.5.x series.

I apologize that this broke redshift (amongst other apps). Clearly it wasn't tested, or if so then it was done in a manner where the systemd service was not reloaded and thus the demo agent was never actually tested.

Update deployed to stable repo.

I updated eopkg and your fix works fine. Good to have the app back. Thank you.
