Cannot cancel print jobs
Open, Needs More InfoPublic

Description

While testing a printer attached to a router, I ended up with hung print jobs I could not delete in the GUI of Budgie (hitting the trash would not delete the job). So I added the user root to the lpadmin group (usermod -a -G lpadmin root) and after that I was able to delete those jobs. The bug is perhaps present with Gnome version of Solus.

Ubuntu has a bug opened for something similar. They've fixed it in package cups-pk-helper.

And what about adding it to your own user instead?

I was already a member of lpadmin and I couldn't delete the print jobs. Please take the time to read the Ubuntu bug and you'll understand what's going on. Their solution is to create a cups-pk-helper user member of lpadmin group plus:

Use cups-pk-helper in org.opensuse.CupsPkHelper.Mechanis.conf instead of root
Make the cups-pk-helper run as cups-pk-helper passing cups-pk-helper as user too
Add cups-pk-helper
Added --with-daemon-user

I did take the time, no reason to be condescending.

No offence, I was not trying to be condescending, I just wanted to make sure you took notice of their (rather long) thread as they took years to fix this ;)
