MelonDS, the Nintendo DS Emulator
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

Name: MelonDS

Homepage: http://melonds.kuribo64.net

Why should this be included in the repository: Because MelonDS is a new Project that focuses on accuracy. I am aware that Desmume exists but the problem is that the author of Desmume sabotaged numerous pull requests that would have improved the emulator (Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/comments/4lnmw7/desmume_devs_intentionally_sabotaging_ds_wifi/). In short, MelonDS is superior to Desmume from a technical standpoint.

Is it Open Source: Yes

Who and how many users do you anticipate will use this software: Everyone who uses Desmume will eventually switch to MelonDS as it matures, and all those others who want to Emulate the Nintendo DS on Solus. How many? i do not know.

On a final note, MelonDS is already added to Arch repository

Event Timeline

Just one note: There is no released version yet. I don't know if that is due to the project not being ready or the maintainer not seeing it as necessary.
Alright, I will take that back. There are versioned downloads on the website...

this statement is not true. http://melonds.kuribo64.net/downloads.php

the author has relseased 0.7.2 just now.

My bad. But you might want to mention this in the tarball section of the post. GitHub master won't help much.

i could only find the Linux binaries for it's respective version.

on a side note why doesn't the github page help?

Ok ok. I might have been to quick on that one.
So, I just wanted to note that there is a lack of versioned tarballs of the source code. And that seems to be the case, right?

the binaries are versioned but it seems only the github page is available for source code access. i managed to successfully make a binary that works on solus.

if github is not sufficient enough (for whatever reason... since arch has added melonds not too long ago in its own repo) i could reach out to the author himself to provide us the 0.7.2 version source code

There is no tags or source tarballs provided via GitHub, rejected for inclusion.

That is exactly what I am talking about.
On a side note: On this OS I would never start to use Arch as an argument.

Whoa, that was quick.
I guess when you manage to ask the author for source tarballs by creating git tags this problem would be resolved and @JoshStrobl might reconsider it :)
