File Roller doesn't support 7z while Files does
Closed, WontfixPublic

I can compress and extract .7z archives using Files. However, double-clicking an archive to open it in File Roller fails with an error.

File Roller starts functioning correctly after installing p7zip. I suppose the latter package should be included in the standard install.

Nope, p7zip is an optional dependency. .7z is not the most common format.

I concur with @kyrios123 in that .7z is an atypical format. Seeing as this isn't a runtime dependency of file-roller itself and most interacted file formats are tarballs (.tar.*) and zips (.zip), not .7z, closing as WONTFIX.

I won't argue about it being a rare format. The "bug" here to me is that out of the box Solus lets me compress and decompress .7z via the file manager but when I double click such an archive to inspect its contents, I get that error screen.
