AppImage file did not run by default
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

I went on the Ubuntu Touch page to download the installer: http://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/installer/appimage

By default, with Allow executing unticked, opening the file shows:
Could not display AppImage.

Then I right-clicked the AppImage file, went to Properties > Permissions, and ticked the Execute box (Allow executing file as program).
With Allow executing ticked, opening the file shows a pop-up asking if I want to integrate it with my system:

I clicked No and the installer was then running as expected:

Maybe you can remove the integration prompt, or at least get the program running without the user having to click Yes or No first ?
Thanks!

I have no plans on patching Caja or Nautilus to remove the requirement to make a program executable.

New Solus users might not figure this out themselves, so is there a help centre page (https://getsol.us/help-center/home/) which shows how to fix this for AppImage files ?

If you don't find it, you don't need a permission to submit a PR !

Seeing as we encourage them to use Flatpak and Snaps, not especially our problem IMO. This also isn't Arch, we do not need to document everything.
