Requesting Modelica Framework
Closed due to inactivityPublic

Description

Name: Openmodelica / JModelica
Hompage: Openmodelica / JModelica
Why should this be included in the repository: To my knowledge no other Modelica/ Generic Equation Modelling Framework is availible in the repository. The functionality is usefull for a wide range of academic and engineering tasks
Is it open source : Yes (both seem to be)
Who and how many users do you anticipate will use this software: As stated above, only is applicable to developers/ academics and engineers. At least for OpenModelica installation is not very straight forward, so for these groups it will be advantagous to have this inside the repository. The percentage of users who will require this package will be likely small.

Which one are you requesting?

The point of mentioning both was to give more options. Maybe one of them is easier to integrate.
If a definite answer is required, then Openmodelica is the package requested.

DataDrake raised the priority of this task from Needs More Info to Normal.
DataDrake moved this task from Backlog to Accepted For Inclusion on the Package Requests board.

OpenModelica looks like the better choice from a speed/integration standpoint. I'll take a look.

This has sat in accepted for inclusion for over 30 days. Clearly, there is a lack of demand for the inclusion of this software, nobody has stepped up to provide a completed patch, maintain it, and properly integrate it. Closing as a result. Feel free to reopen but only when someone offers a patch via our proper patch submission methods and volunteers to be maintainer.

open-modelica is not one package, it'd be a group of 6-7 packages. I have a recent project that involves modelica, but only touches a small portion of the software. I'm afraid that even if I prepared the packages for solus, I won't be able to adequately verify that the build was correct.

If @Downsite or anyone else is able to do the testing, I can attempt to package it.

I'd would be willing to test it on my machine. Not sure if I can provide more in terms of verification.
