Massive regression for Nvidia 415.xx drivers
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

There is a massive regression within the Nvidia 415.xx driver series that causes it to fail to launch all Unity titles through SteamPlay/Proton or Wine when DXVK is used.

See this Nvidia dev talk thread: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1044264/linux/415-13-breaking-unity-engine-games-in-wine/post/5297975/

It might be prudent to roll back either both the nvidia-beta-driver and nvidia-developer-driver or at the very least the latter one, as playing games through Proton and Wine is what the driver is mostly there for.

I can confirm this problem with the nvidia-developer-driver-current. Just tried it with the free game "b" and I get the exact same error message that is mentioned in the linked thread.

This is fixed upstream now, see here, this can then be closed after it gets updated here in Solus land.
