Firefox: Not using hardware acceleration by default
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

You can see Firefox not using hardware acceleration because video playback in fullscreen is laggy. After enabling layers.acceleration.force-enabled in about:config, it works.

System specifications:
i7-4770
16GB RAM
GTX 970 (running nvidia-glx-driver)
1x 4k screen
1x 1650x1050 screen

Your issue seems to be related to T7127. Devs said they will enable it if someone tests layers.acceleration.force-enabled using linux-lts with an Nvidia graphic card. Maybe you can check it yourself. It would resolve this task and T7127.

Just tested this with a LTS kernel on my stable notebook, and I don't see any difference between current and LTS with gfx.render and acceleration set to true

Thank you for your comment, I'll report it in T7127.
