KDE - Twitter integration doesn't work
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I've tried to add my Twitter account to the Online Accounts section in System Settings, but after clicking on 'Add (plus button) -> Twitter', nothing really happens. It shows a progress bar, but it never loads the Twitter login/grant access page.

How to solve this?

If I have to guess it's the same issue with Core-bird, Twitter changed their ABI and basically banned any 3-party software

Yes, they changed their ABI, but only to disable some things like streaming. The KDE integration only means that you can use the Share menu to share things to Twitter, which is still supported by Twitter.

@clivejo Thanks. Pretty strange though that they never did something about it when it's known for two years. I mean: I can understand not fixing the bug because they were busy with other stuff, but the least they could do was (temporarily) remove or disable the plugin, as it's not very user-friendly to ship a broken plugin, esp. when two years have already passed. But oh well. Thanks again, guess I'll just have to wait for upstream to fix it someday...

I've added a comment on the bug and trying to poke someone to see about getting it fixed

JoshStrobl triaged this task as Low priority.

If it gets resolved, feel free to poke me to make sure I add it back.
