Name - mosquitto-clients
Homepage - https://github.com/eclipse/mosquitto
Why should this be included in the repository? If we already offer similar software in our repository or third party, please provide information on what your proposed software does that our existing offerings don’t (differentiators).
I see there have been several requests for the mosquitto (MQTT) server that have been declined - I am not requesting the server, but the client tools mosquitto_sub and mosquitto_pub. These tools allow you to send or receive information as a client using a remote MQTT server. Almost all smart home solutions (ie. Home Assistant, Smart things ,etc.) use MQTT to send information back and forth, also common solution for Arduino/Pi/esp8266 development projects.
The "mosquitto-clients" is available as a separate package w/o the server on Debian etc. There are currently no tools in Solus repository for working with MQTT.
Is it Open Source (yes/no) yes
Who and how many users do you anticipate will use this software? Anyone who uses smart home software, IoT or Pi developers
