Latest version is 10.7, but it won't compile since it relies on wxWidgets >= 3.1.1, but this branch isn't stable yet. We can update to 10.5 and then wait for the wxWidgets update.

I also use this piece of software on a daily basis. Can I ask why wouldn't we have the latest version of wxwidgets in the repo? Yes, it's technically a dev version, but developers statement is as follows: "Please notice that while 3.1.2 is officially a “development” version because it is not fully compatible with the “stable” 3.0.x, the list of backwards incompatible changes is very short, so you shouldn’t have any problems updating to this version from 3.0.x in practice, and you’re encouraged to use this release, including in production." Does something existing in the repo break after updating to 3.1.2?

All of these things depend on it, are you volunteering to go through and rebuild each of them to ensure nothing breaks?

Unfortunately no, I don't have any skills in (re)building packages. I was just asking for a reason for not updating wxwidgets.

Time is likely the reason it comes down to. Time to rebuild all of that and test locally before pushing it to the repo.

  • I tried to build this package but OpenSSL 1.1.x is required.

OpenSSL web page says 1.1.1 released.

The master sources are maintained in our git repository, which is accessible over the network and cloned on GitHub, at https://github.com/openssl/openssl. Bugs and pull patches (issues and pull requests) should be filed on the GitHub repo. Please familiarize yourself with the license.

The table below lists the latest releases for every branch. (For an explanation of the numbering, see our release strategy.) All releases can be found at /source/old. A list of mirror sites can be found here.

Note: The latest stable version is the 1.1.1 series. This is also our Long Term Support (LTS) version, supported until 11th September 2023. All other versions (including 1.1.0, 1.0.2, 1.0.0 and 0.9.8) are now out of support and should not be used. Users of these older versions are encourage to upgrade to 1.1.1 as soon as possible. Extended support for 1.0.2 to gain access to security fixes for that version is available.

OpenSSL upgrade is something that is foreseen for Solus 4.2 and that will be handled by the core team see T8629

The 11.4 uses WxWidgets 3.1.5 and C++20 stuff. So very unlikely
