Project Homepage: flashrom.org
Reasons for Inclusion: To allow reading from, and writing to, different hardware (such as different DIY projects, BIOS chips, EC chips, etc., including being able to port and maintain CoreBoot from Solus; adding future LVFS support to solus-sc, etc.)
Latest Stable Release (1.0): https://download.flashrom.org/releases/flashrom-1.0.tar.bz2
As this task has been marked Needs Maintainer for a month with nobody having stepped up to become maintainer, in addition to providing an acceptable patch for inclusion, marking as WONTFIX. Feel free to re-open when a patch has been submitted via the proper processes.
Now that all requirements for compiling flashrom have been fulfilled, I would like to step up as the maintainer (at least temporarily, if someone else will want to do so) of flashrom, however I still do not understand the content of the patch required for inclusion (i.e., what changes to package.yml do I need to make?).
My first package will also have to wait until I set up the build environment required (which will mean that I'll have to leave my laptop connected directly (whether WiFi or ethernet, makes no difference) for some time, since we only get up to ~36Mbts down (and ~2Mbts up) here in our area (we pay for 40Mbts, however the ISP's infrastructure in our is unable to supply any faster speeds, and the promised infrastructure is about 8 years late (and still waiting)), which is alright, but will take more time.
With this, I have to say that I am not very good at keeping times, so unless someone else steps up, there is a chance that flashrom updates may lag a bit (thankfully, it appears that "stable" updates to flashrom are not very frequent, as that will help me update a bit quicker).
