Why we should include this into the repository? It's a very clean and modern note-taking app, and looks promising. Nothing innovative, but looks like a nice addition.
Is it open source? Yes, Mozilla 2.0: https://github.com/nuttyartist/notes/blob/dev/LICENSE
Most up to date, versioned source tarball/zipfile: https://github.com/nuttyartist/notes/archive/v1.0.0.zip

Thanks!

We have a bunch of note-taking apps, but this is definitely one of the cleanest looking ones I'm seen in awhile, so it shall pass.

As it is a Qt application, I took a look at this. However, it looks very out off place on my Plasma desktop theme and I already make use of knotes, so I don't feel it adds any benefit to my personal workflow.

I can submit the packaging for it, but as I don't intend to use it, I don't feel as though I can offer to maintain it.

It also seems to be relying on the packaging to install the desktop and icons files which is a bit odd?!

Eh, not really. Most of what you linked can just be sorted with a for loop on different icon sizes, we have quite a few packages that do precisely that. Copyright file isn't necessary, desktop file install during install step is fairly normal.

It looks like their install target handles most of it though, see https://github.com/nuttyartist/notes/blob/dev/src/Notes.pro#L72 but I'll admit that none of what they have is especially ideal.

Regardless, if you're not wanting to maintain it (since you won't be using it) that's perfectly fine, but as a general policy every new package must have a maintainer and thus unless someone else picks this up in the next 30 days, the task will be closed. In this specific case, you can upload your package.yml so someone else can get a head start.

As this task has been marked Needs Maintainer for a month with nobody having stepped up to become maintainer, in addition to providing an acceptable patch for inclusion, marking as WONTFIX. Feel free to re-open when a patch has been submitted via the proper processes.
