Installation of Nuvola player - diorite dependency not found after successful install
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Solus version 3.9999 up to date

Error when trying to run Nuvola player after apparently successful installation:

nuvolaplayer3ctl: error while loading shared libraries: libdioriteglib-0.2.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The diorite widget and utility library appears to be installed in software centre.

If you need anything else please do not hesitate to ask.

Event Timeline

From a quick look. diorite needs libsplit : no and nuvolaplayer probably needs a rebuild against diorite

further information:

Nuvola Player 3.0 is the legacy series having End of Life scheduled for December 31st, 2017.

Nuvola Apps 4.x is the current series. New builds are constantly rolling out as new features are being developed. This series started with version numbers 3.1.x, which was later simplified to 4.x.

Nuvola Player is likely to be deprecated entirely from the repo.

Thanks for the update @JoshStrobl. Is this role fulfilled by another piece of software already?

@redcollective No, it requires CEF to properly function and thus isn't something that will remain in the repo due to stack complexity. Without CEF (so only using WebkitGTK) Nuvola is almost completely useless.

JoshStrobl claimed this task.

Nuvola and its dependency, diorite, has now been deprecated from unstable, and will no longer be available in the stable repos pending the coming sync.
