In the last week or two, when I finish watching a video in VLC and close it, the icon remains in the notification area. They build up the more videos I watch and close. I have to kill the process to get rid of the icons, ending the process does nothing.
I also noticed the setting for Continue Playback? doesn't work any more when set to either Ask or Always.
I'm wondering if this is because I transferred my HDD from my previous Dell Inspiron 15R laptop, which now does not work, to a HP Pavilion DV6.
This is the output for inxi -F https://hastebin.com/subibomono.makefile
Not sure why inxi shows "Desktop: MATE 1.20.1", System Monitor shows I'm on MATE 1.20.3: https://imgur.com/zD9ytbL

Yes, VLC runs in background and doesn't open a video when I try to open it.
The only way to open the video the is to kill vlc and open the video then it works automatically.

I've done a fresh install of Solus 3 Mate on a new ThinkPad E480 and I don't have this problem now.
It may be affecting other Solus users who installed an older iso version originally.

Could you please let me know if the problem still occurs after doing a fill system update ?
