Facs and Brother printers PC-FAX
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Solus now has a firm grip on Brother printer drivers, and now success with the scanners. Refer to T83. Thanks Sunnyflunk et al.

Remainders:-)
The PC-FAX brother driver. Fun and games there on the the Brother site for installation with .deb and .rpm.

The actual driver looks to be called brpcfacs - from 2007 odd by the looks of it.
And yes, it all appears to hang off java.

Any assistance appreciated.

What model? (typically that gives the link to the drivers). Doesn't really seem that friendly to use based on those instructions

The machine - MFC-L2703DW.
Sorry - didn't mention the machine, as the destructions looked almost generic, if a little dated.
The Model 2703 appears to be unique to .au, and Officeworks at that - it pops up on the .au site but not the worldwide "en" support pages.
Following the .au site gets us to uninstall instructions.
Following the 'world' en site gets to installation instructions, GUI and otherwise.
Mystery. Is good.
FWIW, I'm most interested in sending a facs to/and then from the MFC machine direct from LibreOffice.
Hoping of course that such will work for all the 2 and probably the 7 series machines.
Added on edit - the subject software is a simple "printer" by Brother , I recall having it present as such in a previous Linux distro, and I didn't need to use the GUI at all.

Closing as duplicate of T83, feel free to do further followups there.
